Our commitment to a greener tomorrow

🌿

At Juiceworks, we believe the finest beverages come from a planet worth protecting. Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out a clear and measurable pathway — from baseline to Net Zero by 2050 — grounded in real actions already under way across our Manchester production facility.

Measuring What Matters

Our Carbon Reduction Plan tracks Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions against a 2022 baseline — with progress reported annually and independently reviewed.

Scope 1 — Direct Emissions

On-site gas combustion for steam generation, powering our processing and cleaning operations.

355tCO₂e
Baseline 2022
345tCO₂e
Reported 2025
Progress to zero−2.7%
Scope 2 — Indirect Energy

Purchased electricity for machinery, compressed air systems, lighting, and facility operations.

135tCO₂e
Baseline 2022
116tCO₂e
Reported 2025
Progress to zero−14.4%
Scope 3 — Value Chain Emissions

Upstream and downstream activities including T&D losses, water, business travel, homeworking, hotel stays, and waste disposal. Material use and freighted goods to be incorporated by 2027 data.

Carbon Reduction in Action

Tangible investments and operational changes, already delivering measurable reductions across our facility.

🔥
Boiler Replacement & Condensate Return

Investment in a reconditioned high-efficiency steam boiler for all factory processing and cleaning, combined with improvements to the condensate return system — directly cutting gas consumption.

✓ Complete
💡
LED Lighting Throughout Factory

A comprehensive switch to LED lighting across the production facility, paired with movement-sensor controls on secondary lighting areas to eliminate unnecessary consumption.

✓ Complete
⚙️
Energy-Efficient Air Compressor

Installation of a new, modern air compressor to serve all compressed-air-dependent processing and machine operations — replacing an older, higher-consumption unit.

✓ Complete
🕐
4-Day Shift Pattern Transition

In 2026, Juiceworks moved to a four-days-on, longer-hours model. Fewer cold start-ups each week reduces the energy-intensive ramp-up phase of production, cutting associated emissions.

⟳ Active 2026
🔧
Pump & Equipment Efficiency Review

An ongoing audit of pumps and mechanical systems across the factory, identifying units where energy-efficient replacements or adjustments can deliver meaningful Scope 2 savings.

⟳ Ongoing
🌱
ISO 14001 Environmental Management

Adoption of the internationally recognised ISO 14001 framework is a key near-term ambition, providing a structured, audited approach to environmental performance across all operations.

◌ Planned
Filling Machine Electrification

A planned retrofit of filling machines to replace mechanical drives and compressed-air mechanisms with electrical equivalents, cutting both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions at source.

Scope 3: Looking Beyond Our Walls

Currently Measured

Transmission & distribution losses (electricity)
Water supply (delivered)
Water treatment (to drain/sewerage)
Business travel — air, sea & land
Hotel stays
Homeworking
Waste disposal (general)

To be included by 2027

Procured material use (by origin)
Freighted goods

Our Scope 3 reporting commenced with 2025 data, capturing the indirect emissions that occur across our supply chain and operations. These 20.53 tCO₂e represent a first and growing picture of our full value chain impact.

The factors used in 2025 are analogous to those that would have applied in our 2022 baseline year, allowing them to be incorporated into our reference figures for comparative reporting purposes.

Two significant categories — material procurement and freighted goods — are currently being scoped for inclusion, with full definition targeted by the time 2027 data is reported.

Why does this matter?
For a contract beverage manufacturer, the carbon embedded in incoming materials and outgoing freight can represent a substantial share of total impact. Bringing these into scope will give us — and our customers — a truly complete picture.

Our Carbon Roadmap

2022
Baseline Established
Scope 1 (355.34 tCO₂e) and Scope 2 (135.77 tCO₂e) emissions recorded as the reference point for all future progress.
2022–2024
First Wave Reductions
Boiler replacement, condensate return improvements, LED rollout, motion sensors, new air compressor, and pump efficiency reviews all completed.
2025
Scope 3 Reporting Begins
First Scope 3 data captured: 20.53 tCO₂e across travel, water, waste, T&D, and homeworking. Total reported footprint now 482.33 tCO₂e (all scopes).
2026
Operational Shift
Transition to a four-day working pattern reduces cold-start frequency and its associated energy spike — a meaningful Scope 1 contribution.
2027
Full Scope 3 Coverage
Material procurement and freighted goods to be incorporated, completing our value chain emissions picture and enabling near-term science-aligned targets to be set.
Near Term
Targeted Reductions & ISO 14001
Once Scope 3 is fully defined, specific interim reduction targets will be formalised. ISO 14001 adoption will provide the governance framework to deliver them.
2050
Net Zero
Juiceworks Ltd commits to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions across all scopes by 2050, in line with PPN 06/21 and the GHG Reporting Protocol.
Our Commitment

Net Zero by 2050.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the senior management team of Juiceworks Ltd, in accordance with PPN 06/21.
