Juiceworks Ltd · Sustainability
Squeezed from the Earth.
Returned to It for the Future.
Our commitment to a greener tomorrow
At Juiceworks, we believe the finest beverages come from a planet worth protecting. Our Carbon Reduction Plan sets out a clear and measurable pathway — from baseline to Net Zero by 2050 — grounded in real actions already under way across our Manchester production facility.
Measuring What Matters
Our Carbon Reduction Plan tracks Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions against a 2022 baseline — with progress reported annually and independently reviewed.
On-site gas combustion for steam generation, powering our processing and cleaning operations.
Purchased electricity for machinery, compressed air systems, lighting, and facility operations.
Upstream and downstream activities including T&D losses, water, business travel, homeworking, hotel stays, and waste disposal. Material use and freighted goods to be incorporated by 2027 data.
Carbon Reduction in Action
Tangible investments and operational changes, already delivering measurable reductions across our facility.
Investment in a reconditioned high-efficiency steam boiler for all factory processing and cleaning, combined with improvements to the condensate return system — directly cutting gas consumption.
✓ CompleteA comprehensive switch to LED lighting across the production facility, paired with movement-sensor controls on secondary lighting areas to eliminate unnecessary consumption.
✓ CompleteInstallation of a new, modern air compressor to serve all compressed-air-dependent processing and machine operations — replacing an older, higher-consumption unit.
✓ CompleteIn 2026, Juiceworks moved to a four-days-on, longer-hours model. Fewer cold start-ups each week reduces the energy-intensive ramp-up phase of production, cutting associated emissions.
⟳ Active 2026An ongoing audit of pumps and mechanical systems across the factory, identifying units where energy-efficient replacements or adjustments can deliver meaningful Scope 2 savings.
⟳ OngoingAdoption of the internationally recognised ISO 14001 framework is a key near-term ambition, providing a structured, audited approach to environmental performance across all operations.
◌ PlannedA planned retrofit of filling machines to replace mechanical drives and compressed-air mechanisms with electrical equivalents, cutting both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions at source.
◌ PlannedScope 3: Looking Beyond Our Walls
Currently Measured
To be included by 2027
Our Scope 3 reporting commenced with 2025 data, capturing the indirect emissions that occur across our supply chain and operations. These 20.53 tCO₂e represent a first and growing picture of our full value chain impact.
The factors used in 2025 are analogous to those that would have applied in our 2022 baseline year, allowing them to be incorporated into our reference figures for comparative reporting purposes.
Two significant categories — material procurement and freighted goods — are currently being scoped for inclusion, with full definition targeted by the time 2027 data is reported.
For a contract beverage manufacturer, the carbon embedded in incoming materials and outgoing freight can represent a substantial share of total impact. Bringing these into scope will give us — and our customers — a truly complete picture.
